WAtertower to lighthouse

An early 1900’s water tower in New Hope, PA coverted into an ornamental stained glass light house. The wood tank had rotted and was in need of removal, but the underlying steel tower was still in good condition. I decided to restore the tower and replace the tank with something a little more visually appealing. The light house was built with steel angle, rolled and welded. The frame was hot-dip ganvanized and then a patina was applied to give the bright zinc an antiqued, weathered aesthetic. The panels are translucent acrylic, cut and formed to snap in to the frame. Two globe lights are mounted inside so the tower can be illuminated at night. As the sun passes behind the tower it causes the entire structure to glow brilliantly.
